- Engage in EU-level discussions (e.g., ECHA’s ECaBaM) on substances used in batteries, focusing on regulatory measures, risk management, and transparency.
- Review and contribute to reports on substances of concern, supporting safe recycling and potential phase-outs.
- Represent the chemical industry in regulatory consultations and ensure accurate reporting on chemicals in the battery life cycle.
2. Sustainability
- Address carbon footprint requirements, including maximum thresholds and declarations.
- Support battery life cycle management, recycling, and waste shipment regulations.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the Battery Passport for traceability and digital disclosure of chemical raw materials.
- Promote black mass recycling and circularity, focusing on the compatibility of chemical additives with recycling processes.
3. Industrial Policy
- Advocate for policies that enable a robust EU battery value chain, including access to affordable energy, financing, and circular economy initiatives.
- Engage in flagship EU actions such as the Clean Industrial Deal, Industrial Action Plan for the automotive sector, Battery Booster package, Critical Chemicals Act, and Critical Raw Materials Act.
- Support research and innovation for next-generation battery technologies and consumer trust measures.
4. Value Chain Collaboration
